My original art submission for the London ExpoLondon Expo art competition~! Wheeee. Ignore my pig-french title - I couldn't think of anything else at the time...

This was a bit of a killer to do to tell the truth... I was totally unsure on what to do~ I drew another picture of a girl reclining with her hair going all over the place but then I figured it looked better in portrait view than landscape (I drew it originally in landscape...) so that threw me off as I wasn't prepared to draw all the draping fabric and flowy hair according to the new gravity rules rotating the pic 90 degrees meant... ^^;

SOOO I drew this pretty much as blindly as the fanart entry - after a figuring "hey, it's quite nice actually!" I finished it off... twas a pain to outline (thank god for curved rulers!) and colouring that skirt URGH! XD This is in fact my second attempt at finishing it too - the first version did it no favours at all!

I wanted to do her as more "Indian" styled than most anime girlies as most of them are either loligoths, Traditional Japanese style (kimonos, dark hair etc) or western fantasy style (like medevil princesses)... she doesn't look very Indian though! XD Ah welp! She's a bit of a prequel to another fairy character I'm yet to design for something... *mysterious*

Tools - Photoshop, A5 Wacom Intuos, A3 lightbox, Pilot pensss, Photoshop again and again and again... LOTS AND LOTS OF PAIN.
Time - Sketch; 4 hours at the very LEAST, Lineart; 2 1/2 hours maybe? I was watching TV at the time..., colouring; MY LIFE. ;_;

Hmmmmmmmm ^___^ I love those colors used for this picture. This has a really great dream state kind of atmosphere to it but I'm almost sure that it was all a looooOOoooot of work to make this image. BUT, I think it was worth the time and thoughts and processes of skill that you had put into the creation of the background, the character, her hair, dress, position and gestures, the wings which would have made me go insane to draw (They look like strawberry Pop-Tart frosting's colors. xD Mmmmmm), and that haaaaair, because they look splendiferous.
She doesn't make me think of Indian peoples when I see her, except for the body art maybe, but that's alright, she's danged cute regardless.

Very clean and I admire the cell shading. The cool color choices give it a very soft evening feel, and I do like the effects that make her seem to be glowing. Excellent craftsmanship and a visual treat to behold.
